AXE: The Cleaner - Evidencias

The latest AXE commercial in Argentina is quite the controversial one.

Based on the classic movie "Pulp Fiction", this ad has opinions going wild in the country. AXE is always associated with the idea of attracting women, but this time it might have went a bit far as some criticism of infidelity is being implied in the ad. Or is it?

Never the less, lots of opinions are also good, saying that its extremely funny and cool.

You be the judge of that.

BMW: Game Over to Audi on the Game of Advertising

Don't you just love when 2 brands just go at it?

Sometime ago i posted what seemed just a small but interesting and funny dispute between BMW and Audi, or so i thought. It seems i was wrong and things didn't stand there, since i found out that after the two initial billboards Audi got one even bigger and afterwards BMW responded with pure class and creativity.

Will Audi be able to respond in kind, or is it in fact GAME OVER.

Touché once again Beamer, touché.

McDonald's Twitter Campaign Goes Horribly Wrong #McDStories

In many posts through my blog i've shared my opinions of how important is nowadays the use of web based platforms by the company's to communicate with their consumers and also how only now these platforms like Facebook or Twitter are starting to be well managed for those purposes.
Anyways, like every other means of communication, things can go wrong and there should always be a backup plan for the possibility of backfire.
Check it out:
A twitter campaign by McDonald's backfired when people started sharing the wrong kind of #McDStories (via @bored2tears).
McDonald's kicked things off on Thursday with the hashtag #MeetTheFarmers, in a campaign meant to draw attention to the brand's guarantee of fresh produce.
Later in the day, however, the burger company used a dangerously vague hashtag: "When u make something w/ pride, people can taste it," McD potato supplier #McDstories
People took this hashtag and started talking trash. The Daily Mail gathered some of the best:

UPDATE: Here's an emailed statement from McDonald's social media director Rick Wion:
Last Thursday, we planned to use two different hashtags during a promoted trend – #meetthefarmers and #mcdstories.
While #meetthefarmers was used for the majority of the day and successful in raising awareness of the Supplier Stories campaign, #mcdstories did not go as planned. We quickly pulled #mcdstories and it was promoted for less than two hours.
Within an hour of pulling #McDStories the number of conversations about it fell off from a peak of 1600 to a few dozen. It is also important to keep those numbers in perspective. There were 72,788 mentions of McDonald's overall that day so the traction of #McDStories was a tiny percentage (2%) of that.
With all social media campaigns, we include contingency plans should the conversation not go as planned. The ability to change midstream helped this small blip from becoming something larger.

Sainsbury's: Great Costumer Service

The consumer is the on the center of everything!

Costumer service. Its one of the main pillars that every company in the world should invest in and give lots of attention to guarantee its success in the market.

I'd love to talk more about the subject due to its importance nowadays but quite in a hurry, so ill leave you here a phenomenal example of good costumer service from Sainsbury's.

I understand if not all company's can go to this extreme but at least they should put an effort to it.

Check it out and tell me what do you think.

African Angel: With Immediate Effect

Man, watching this just made my day and at the same time sent me in a journey of thoughts on the subject.

Usually when people donate, they can't see the immediate effect of their action and can only imagine what actually happens by what they are told.

To create and share a more powerful and instant feeling of accomplishment and knowledge of what happens to the money, even if it is a simple Euro, the African Angel along with Ogilvy Düsseldorf created this simple, brilliant and heart touching campaign for all the people out there who have in their hearts the need and ability to help.

Good Job Ogilvy, its impossible not to think about the issue at least.

IKEA: Making of montage de l'appart

Why the hell not?

Some days ago, instead of going all out for a tradition ad campaign with a commercial or a print, IKEA had this brilliant idea of building and more importantly furnishing 2 small 54m2 apartments in the middle of a Paris metro station.

Then they simply gathered 5 volunteers to live there for a week from the 9th to 14th, showing in first hand to the public the outstanding storage capabilities of their products. This way its as true as you can see and you don't have the chance to think "Its only true because its a commercial"

So, check out right here the apartments montage and a short clip of the first day they spent there. You can watch the rest of the "episodes" on Youtube since for each day, one video was posted.

Completely out of the box right?

That's how we like to see brands advertising their products!

Brisk Star Wars: Yoda vs. Darth Maul

I simply cannot resist to post something from Star Wars, especially when as funny as this.

Its a first time ever showdown from Yoda vs Darth Maul brought to us by Brisk and Star Wars® Episode 1: The Phantom Menace™ in 3D. The video projects an extremely comic and ironic perspective from both characters but especially from the Dark Lords Apprentice.

On top of that, you just gotta love that ending from Master Yoda with such a fantastic line "Too old for this, I'm getting"

For more info, just check out their Facebook Page where they advertise the brand.

Budweiser Budvar: Czech Girls

The new prints from Budweiser are going all around the web and so they are today's choice for a post do to that popularity.

Its quite amazing when we see such a simple image combined with an extremely simple copy bring a lot of commotion, especially for men. Good job there Budweiser.

"When the average Czech girl looks like this, who the hell needs alcohol. Budweiser Budvar non alcoholic."

Crash Corsage - The World's First Wedding Crashing App

"Free food, free drinks and the possibility of a one night stand"

Crash Corsage is a future app developed by R/GA that will allow you to fulfill that fantasy of crashing a weeding (just like in the movies) but now, like a pro.

Instead of explaining how it works, let me just show you! I'd imagine that no couple wants some random people crashing their most precious day, especially the bride. However the concept is extremely funny and deserves a slice of recognition. Unfortunately this concept wont probably work in Portugal, but what the hey, just enjoy it if you go to the States ;)

Cravendale - Cats with Thumbs

Today i bring you another fantastic ad from 2011, "The "Cats with Thumbs" which made the shortlist drawn up by the industry experts, and winning first place in the top 20 countdown voted by 8,000 ITV viewers or so i've read.

Sam Dolan, Cravendale senior brand manager, commented:“It’s a really engaging, fun ad that struck a chord with cat lovers and cat haters; it’s not too difficult to imagine a world where cats take over!" and with that said here you have it, a extremely humorous commercial that took out its rivals.

Dead Island: Official Announcement Trailer

What i'm showing you today is something blew my mind especially do to its extremely simple execution but with incredible results.

Now i ask for your attention for whats really important here. This is an official announcement trailer for a zombies video game called "Dead Island" and what in fact impressed me is, how with a simple and small trick such as playing the video backwards, they are able to pass this huge amount of heavy emotions charge, making us almost completely forget that we're actually watching a video game instead of a real movie.

The video can get a bit long, but i think in the end that's a necessary factor to transmit those feelings of anxiety and fear for the persons or characters we see on the trailer.

It goes to show you that even for a genre of games that usually have no story at all (its all about the killing) you can create a strong connection with the public, in this case trough basic emotions like fear, anxiety, and in this case the need of wanting to help that little girl.

Canal Digital: The man who lived in a film

Here's a fantastic commercial with a great execution to promote a video on demand service brought to the public by Canal Digital

The ad claims that they have more films than ever along with the slogan "We bring the movies to you" which is something they literally show this man's life turning itself into a film.

Yes, sometimes TV spots (still) work!

Todays post is brought by a close friend and shows his perspectivewhich i think its most interesting, along with other ideas that he shares on his blog:

In a world where TV spots and radio advertisements are losing its impact  versus new media channels, here's an example of a commercial that goes against this trend. This time by the giant Coca-Cola, with a 1 and a half TV spot launched in Christmas, in Portugal.

The marketing mix is something easily understood on paper but difficult to put in practice if you don't know your brand and your consumers properly. And even when you do know them well, the right balance is hard to determine. Currently more and more companies and leaving classic media channels such as television and switching to, for example, social media vehicles to promote their products and services. By doing this firms keep up with their consumers' trends as they communicate to (and with) their consumers while they are facebooking or simply writing posts on blogs.

However, a good TV spot still makes an impact. And what is a good TV commercial? For me a good TV commercial is evaluated by 1) the consumer's understanding of the message presented and 2) how much they like it, which ultimately leads to a word-of-mouth snowball effect. This ad clearly transmits the "happiness" core value of Coca-Cola, while at the same time is so good that made people talk about it. It became viral, with hundreds of people posting it online. So even the ones that didn't catch it on TV, they saw it anyways online.

So for all the companies re-thinking their marketing strategies, here's an advice: most of the marketing tools you can use are worth going for, as long as you make sure you are doing it right.

Argentina vs Brasil: Condoms Ad

Hello fans and welcome once again!

I apologize for my absence but it was quite difficult to post anything what so ever these last months. Anyways lets get right away to what really matters but from now on with a slight change on the concept of "advertising in one minute".

Ill post the ads, marketing campaigns and everything else along with small remarks, instead of bigger content in order to keep things fresh, fast, attractive and new by the minute. I know its more common but hey, let's give it a shot and if you disagree, just share your thoughts with me.

With this said, here we go for the great come back:

This posters have quite some time, but i've seen them being used in several occasion and the last one was on the famous and growing platform of entertainment that is 9GAG.

An Argentinian condoms brand came up with this before a game against the big rival Brasil, assuming that their beloved team would win.

However... The outcome was a tad different than expected and in the end the Brazilian Football Organization posted this everywhere in retaliation. On the spot right?
